AbstractDue to increasing urbanization, the competition for cities' finite resources is intensifying. To maintain a high quality of life for citizens, more efficient use of these resources can be targeted. One way to achieve this goal is to use sensor networks that collect real-time information about the conditions in a city and improve citizens' understanding of their environment. Nevertheless, many existing sensor networks make their data available only locally, are not interconnected, and target companies and experts instead of average citizens. Many citizens already operate sensors on several devices but cannot share their sensor data with other citizens in a secure manner. Therefore, we describe building blocks to construct a fully distributed city-wide marketplace for urban sensor data. By this, citizens can be offered a secure possibility to share their data by keeping their data sovereignty.
